Puzzle No. 431 : Tapa

This one’s a bit gimmick-y. I tried not to make it too obvious, and keep it a little interesting. Still pretty easy though. Just wanted to have a try at something. This mostly wouldn’t have met the quality levels of the Tapas on the Classic Tapa Contest going on right now (Self Deprecation as an advertisement for something else, how awesome am I?!). Oh and, seeing as my schedule dictates that my next post be on Sunday, I’ll also note that Tapa Variations Contest XIV is this weekend. Yay!

Aaanyway,

Rules for Tapa.

Rated – Easy.

Enjoy!

The Sudoku below is probably a little tricky, but not much.

Oh and, Classic Tapa Contest started! Well it started 2 days ago!

Rules – Follow regular Sudoku rules.  Shaded cells contain even digits. Additionally, all digits have to be in a different position in each 3×3 box.

Rated : Medium.

Enjoy!

Puzzle No. 429 : Kurotto

This was supposed to be yesterday’s puzzle but I was pretty tired after conducting 3 events within the Chennai Brain Games, so posting it now. Tomorrow I’ll be home, and once home I’ll hopefully finally be able to post something about all that has gone on in the past week. In the meantime, if anyone has any feedback/thoughts about the Sudoku/Puzzle events of yesterday, feel free to post it here

Today’s puzzle, I rate as hard, but if you’re familiar with Island puzzles, this is probably easier. But I think its hard for those who aren’t used to the logic.

Rules for Kurotto

Rated : Hard.

Puzzle No. 428 : Double Back

This Puzzle Doubles Back as a practice puzzle for Chennai Brain Games ( http://www.chennaibraingames.in ) held this weekend.

Sometimes, you think, “Ok, thats exactly what I want, I’m gonna get that done”. Sometimes, you think “I’m so tired, let me just try the first thing that pops into my mind and see if it sticks”. Unfortunately, this is the latter. Why am I so busy? That’ll still have to wait. Hopefully I can do a full post on it when I get back home next week.

Anyway,

Double Back rules. I’m sorry, but I don’t have the time/energy to make it color based right now, region based will have to do.

Rated – Medium. (with a lot of little intricacies)

Enjoy!

Puzzle No. 427 : Quadruple Sudoku [Daily League]

Update : Rating’s probably a bit off based on timings.

Remember that you can solve the puzzles from the League online on the Sudokucup Guest League page with a 24h delay.

Tapa Variations XIII is over. I took the slower/accurate route, mainly because I was too tired to speed solve. In the end, that actually worked out well, as I ended up 4th.

The Sudoku below is probably easy. No fancy tricks, but I still like it. I’m trying to go more into Sudoku-like Sudoku variants recently, if that makes sense.

Rules – Follow regular Sudoku rules. Additionally,  each set of four small numbers in the intersection of four adjacent cells indicate the numbers that are in the four adjacent cells.

Rated – Easy.

Enjoy!

Puzzle No. 425 : Tapa [Diagonal Neighbors]

I thought I’ll add another practice puzzle for the Tapa Variations Contest coming up this weekend. This is a variant I thought up and there’s 2 other instances on this blog that Serkan has linked to in the forum. This particular puzzle isn’t especially tricky but uses the Diagonal rule nicely I think.

Rules – Follow regular Tapa rules. Additionally, every shaded cell must have at least one diagonally adjacent shaded cell.

Rated – Medium.

Enjoy!

Puzzle No. 424 : Renban Groups Sudoku [Daily League]

Remember that you can solve the puzzles from the League online on the Sudokucup Guest League page with a 24h delay.

Well the past few days have been eventful. The Indian Sudoku Championship results are now public. The International results are public too. In addition to being the Indian Champion, I finished 6th in the International rankings too. Happy enough with that.

Also, of course, the WPC announcement, if you missed my last post and haven’t read it yet.

Up next on LMI is the Tapa Variations Contest XIII, marking the belated beginning of Tapa season in 2013. Finally! *Its Sudoku season! Its Tapa season!*

Ok, enough of contests and cartoons, today we have a Renban Groups Sudoku. I like how it turned out.

Rules – Follow regular Sudoku rules. Additionally, the set of digits on each line must be distinct consecutive digits.

Rated – Medium

Enjoy!
