Because, even though I’m gonna be stuck in college on my birthday, doesn’t mean all of you shouldn’t enjoy yourselves. The regular readers of this blog will know, I’ve been struggling to even put up a single puzzle on most days. So in preparing this, obviously most would be easy, and some of them may even fall under the category of “Evil Zingers”. However, I do think quite a few of them are fun, and the last one is probably one of my best. Heh, anyway, you decide.
This set features my first attempt at a Liar Loop, and a non-variant Slalom. ๐
That should do for today’s puzzle post I suppose. Enjoy!
Update : Apparently the PDF is crashing for some people. The error is for some reason that it requires a Japanese Fonts plug in. For what its worth, I downloaded the same and its completely fine. But of course, you may want an alternative, so I’m uploading just the PNG formats of all puzzles in the rar file, with a txt file for the rules and descriptions. The solutions PDF is fine I suppose.
Hope that fixes any issues. ๐
Hey Happy Birthday, (in fact belated) ๐
Hope you had lot of fun. For the puzzles, I have not solved them yet, but quickly went through all of them, on your 21 you made 21 puzzles having 21 theme ๐
Regards,
Ravi
Well its still my birthday in many parts of the world ๐ Thank you. The day was slightly so-so but got to some fun times towards the end ๐
I can’t find your e-mail address on a cursory glance at this blog, so I’m posting a comment here.
The LITS has, by my count, 7 solutions. The variations all exist in the upper-right quadrant. Four of these solutions have a T in the 1-shapd region.
Well thats fine, I’ll add the e-mail later. I’ll take a look and fix it if so. Thanks for the heads up.
Fine now I hope. Sorry about that. And e-mail added in “about the blog”.
It’s fixed, thanks! ๐
The liar loop seems to have two solutions. One with the 5 connecting up, and the other with it connecting to the left.
If I’ve understood the 5 in question correctly, going to the left would result in 2 loops I think.
No, unless you also make the 5 not lie.
You can use topological invariants to see that it won’t. Without disconnecting the loop, push the loop from the 5 out the top, leaving it flat. Then stretch the in the left 3 to the right through the 5.
I’m sorry I’m still not getting the other solution. Maybe you can send a screen shot of the solution that doesn’t tally with the solution I’ve given, I’ll have a look for better understanding. bimbimbong@yahoo.co.in
Thanks for the pointer. I had a brain freeze on the 5 there. Will be fixed shortly.
It is definitely a very good way to celebrate you birthday. I am sure that you will remember this birthday for whole of your life.
I did NOT expect the answer to Puzzle No.2 .
If thats as far as you’ve gone, I believe there are more surprises to be found ๐
